This Touching Random Act of Kindness from a Stranger at Costco Caught Me Off Guard

I didn’t see it coming, at a Costco no less!

There’s something powerful about the moments that catch us off guard—the ones that remind us how good people can be, even when they don’t have to be.

This past weekend, I had one of those moments. It was unexpected, humbling, and honestly, it stayed with me long after it happened. I won’t go into all the details here (you can catch the full story in my latest video), but let’s just say I found myself in a situation where I had to ask a stranger for help.

Now, asking for help doesn’t come easily to most of us. We live in a culture that celebrates independence, self-sufficiency, and always having it together. But when you’re standing in public, realizing you can’t pay for something simple—you either shrink into frustration or open yourself up to someone else’s generosity.

What surprised me wasn’t just the fact that someone helped—it was how quickly they did it. No hesitation. No side-eye. No guilt trip. Just kindness. Pure and simple.

And it reminded me that while headlines often make us feel like the world is cold and divided, there are still people out there quietly doing good. People who remember what it’s like to struggle, and who step in with grace instead of judgment.

In that moment, I also realized my kids were just outside in the car, waiting for me. They didn’t see it happen, but I shared the story with them right after. And that became a teaching moment. Because even though they weren’t there, they got to hear about a real-life example of kindness—of someone doing something selfless without expecting anything in return.

This wasn’t about money. It was about heart and the kind of love we’re called to live out in the bible. Not just in church or big moments, but in food courts and grocery lines and everyday life.

If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of someone’s kindness, or if you’ve ever been the one to offer it, you know how impactful those little moments can be.

I shared the full story and what it meant to me in a short video on my YouTube channel, Kingdom Chronicles. It’s all about real-life Christian testimonies and uplifting moments. I’d love for you to check it out—and let me know if you’ve ever experienced something similar.

Let’s keep choosing kindness. You never know who needs it.
